The Pokemon you get to start with are Pikachu, Squirtle and Charizard. The mod includes the Kanto region, classic music, and familiar Pokemon.
You may want to replay the classic Pokemon beforehand, just in case. It would be a shame to miss out on all of the little details he included with the mod. The vanilla version of Pokemon is the best, which is another good reason to replay it.
You travel through the Kanto region battling Pokemon trainers like Brock, Misty and Blaine. The mod ends with a battle against the Four Elite and a trip to the Sevii Islands.
