Star Trek Online Best Ship Weapons For Tactical Knives

I've just got my Federation Tactical Delta Recruit to level 50 and I am looking for suggestions on which ship to use.

I'm looking to create a high DPS build (once I get through the reputation system!). But before I look at a good build where I'll head over to the STO Builds reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/stobuilds/) I want to first pick a good ship.

Could you also say why your suggestion is the one I should be picking? That would really help me (and I'm sure others) with the decision.

I know this sort of question has been asked before but with so many ships keeping being released I thought I'd raise it again.
