Wrath Of The Blood Ravens

Re: DoW2 Retribution mod: Vengeance of the Blood Ravens Post by Bensidius » 24 July 2016, 09:30 Has the tanks made more endurable? Few months ago when last time played before computer went nuts, Tanks like for example Predator felt squishy as IG trooper and Space Marines felt more tougher. The Blood Ravens have an interesting relationship with the Inquisition. Blood Ravens Librarians can be found in the Deathwatch and the Chapter appears to also maintain unusually close relations with the Grey Knights of the Ordo Malleus. It would appear that the Grey Knights, psykers all, feel an affinity for the Blood Ravens and trust the Chapter with the knowledge of their existence. Game engine can't handle that many troops and neither can my PC hence the FPS drops and lag. Mod Link: https://www.moddb.com/mods/wrath-of-the-blood-ravens. Painting a aluminium greenhouse.

  • They 'aquired' more exotic weapons, armor and other artefacts than any other Chapter. By the Emperors golden toilete, their scout company can outloot an entire Ork Waaagh. Better not tell them about Vulkans artefacts, they'd be found in 2 days.

  • heres something
    The Fated

The Blood Ravens' 5th company is known as the 'Fated', and though the reasons for this are obscure, it may go back to an incident recorded in the annals of the Chapter's Librarium, but never spoken of openly. In M38 the entire 5th company was recorded as having been lost in the Warp, but the truth of the matter may be far darker; it is whispered that one of the company Librarians was seduced by the lure of the ruinous powers, and turned his fellow brethren to Chaos. This notion is by-and-large dismissed by the Chapter today, but for unknown reasons the current members of the Blood Ravens 5th Company wear badges of redemption, penitence and shame upon their armor suits.

  • Thule
When the Chaos witch Morga seduced the Planetary Governor of a once-prosperous and loyal Imperial colony, the Blood Ravens retaliated, purging the world of all life. Morga however, survived. She proved to be a deadly foe and slew the Blood Ravens expedition leader and most of his staff. It was the young Initiate Davian Thule who ultimately killed her, proving his mettle early on.

Thule led the Blood Ravens 4th Company on Cadia. There, his men dropped on the Iron Warriors who were marching towards the city of Kasr Sonnen. The battle initially went in the favour of the Blood Ravens, but word came that the Black Legion was en route as well, and orders came down from the Chapter Master to withdraw. Thule resisted and pressed his advantage until the Chapter Master threatened to have him removed from command. Thule and the Blood Ravens left, leaving the Cadian Regiments to fend for themselves against the Black Legion.

Thule and the Blood Ravens Second Company also succeeded in their mission to wipe out the Necrons of Kronus, with Thule personally planting the bomb deep within their catacombs beneath Thur'Abis Plateau. The Second Company later adopted the motto 'Victory Over Death' in reference to this great victory.

  • Gabriel (PLATNUM VOICE!!!) Angelos
Like many of the Blood Ravens, Gabriel was born on the planet of Cyrene, from whence the Chapter often drew recruits. Gabriel was an accomplished leader of his peers before he even entered his teen years, and passed the Blood Trials set by the Blood Raven Chaplains through working in tandem with fellow aspirant Isador Akios

Many years later, with an entire Company of Blood Ravens under his command, Gabriel returned to Cyrene, to preside over the Blood Trials and recruit new members into the Chapter. But Gabriel found something very wrong during the trials, and cut them short. He quickly returned to his Strike Cruiser, and sent a coded signal out of the system. Within months of the signal, ships of the Inquisition and the Imperial Navy appeared over Cyrene and began the cleansing. Accompanying the Ordo Malleus was a full Brotherhood of Grey Knights. With the Blood Ravens and a detachment of Storm Troopers, the Grey Knights took the cleansing to the surface. What they found was not a Chaos cult per se, but a world ready to embrace change. Ideas like democracy, un-registered psykers and free trade with xenos were now wide spread. Gabriel assisted with the destruction of his world but ordered one squad of Blood Ravens, led by Sergeant Ulray to remain off the grid, searching for someone.

That person was Esmond Angelos, Gabriel's father. Gabriel refused to believe his father, a retired Imperial Guard soldier, would turn away from the Emperor. He fully intended to take Esmond back with him to the Chapter. But to Gabriel's horror, he discovered his father not only supported rebellion against the Imperium, but was one of the major political leaders. Esmond had used the fact his own son had been taken by the Space Marines as reason to despise the Imperium. Esmond cursed Gabriel for his role as an Imperial butcher and wished he had died with his mother in childbirth. Gabriel whispered one last prayer for Cyrene and put a bolt shell through his father's skull.
    (WOW that was dark)

Shortly after the Tartarus Campaign, Angelos, traveled to the world of Rahe's Paradise, to conduct the Blood Trials for a new set of aspirants. At first all seemed routine (save for his premonitions of an Eldar invasion), but soon after the discovery of an ancient Eldar tablet, all hell broke loose[Needs Citation].

Eldar Rangers conducted multiple hit-and-run attacks, focusing exclusively on the psykers of the chapter and the potential psykers among the Trial aspirants, and Gabriel met with Farseer Macha once more[Needs Citation].

She revealed that the Eldar had killed the psykers to prevent the breaking of Lsanthranil's Shield, a device that gave the illusion of a large Eldar psychic presence on the planet. This illusion was the only thing preventing the awakening of the Necrons hidden under the surface of the planet, which would continue to slumber as long as they believed that their ancient foes still dominated the galaxy still[Needs Citation].

Despite Macha's warnings, a space battle destroyed the Spirit Pool of the Dark Reaper aspect, and the psychic scream of the lost souls shattered Lsantril's Shield, and awakened the Necrons. Gabriel ordered the destruction of the planet, and left for the threatened planet of Lorn V with the surviving aspirants

When Angelos arrived at Lorn V, he made contact with the single Eldar survivor of the battle, Farseer Taldeer, who had been asking for him since teleporting to the Battle Barge Litany of Fury[Needs Citation].

Ignoring accusations of heresy levelled against him by Captain Ulantis of the Ninth Company, Angelos was convinced by Taldeer to allow her to take him and a small squad of Blood Ravens to a rip in the webway, made by the Librarian Rhamah, in an attempt to reach the world of law, Arcadia, and find the last Blade of Vaul to use against the waking Necrons. On the planet, he was given the blade by the Eldar Harlequins following a battle with the Prodigal Sons of Ahzek Ahriman, and Ahriman himself; Angelos gave the blade to Macha upon returning to Lorn V. With it, Macha destroyed the Necrons completely, but was not heard from or seen afterward. Gabriel then continued his command as Captain of the Watch and met the newly transformed Ckrius Qurius, whom the Blood Ravens recruited from Tartarus

Angelos is depicted as having a mysterious bond with the Eldar of Biel-Tan, particularly with Farseer Macha. Despite the condemnation of his fellow commanders, the Inquisition, Adepta Sororitas, and even from his own friend Isador Akios, Gabriel is shown as stubborn in his attempts to assist the Eldar and Macha. The Harlequins of Arcadia refer to him as 'Gabriel of the Hidden Heart,' and see him as a symbol of hope for the Eldar in the form of a human

It should be mentioned that the C.S. Goto books were non-cannon last I knew. Which is were most of that after Tartarus campaign comes from. A large amount of that comes from conflicts with events in game at times, along with violating regular 40k lore on a rather horrific level.

oh dear well what does stick to the lore that might form the events in the next game

  • Having an implied romantic relationship with a biel-tan farseer would be one of the things definitely not in the next game. There is no room in a spacemarines life for love. There is admiration for the big E, first among Men, greatest of them all, Grandfather of the spacemarines, but love? Different question.

When is it implied there is a romantic relationship between Gabe and Macha (I'm assuming that's who you mean?) in the canon?

In essence the blood ravens as a whole, have been known to be willing to work a deal with the Eldar on occasion. Gabriel was the key factor in getting Cyrene destroyed. Another confirmed bit, is the blood ravens were becoming undermanned.
I should mention that not all C.S. Goto books are bad, just his dawn of war series is in particularly out there.
    @MrBenis
I don't think Goto or any author has implied Gabe has anything but grudging respect towards Eldar.

    ..and interplanetary acrobatics competitions :P

  • I'm not completely up to speed with where the plot has reached. Ninja Gabriel FWIW is entirely plausible within the 40K universe.

At the same time, the Necrons were also rising in the Lorn System, roused by the Necron awakening at Rahe's Paradise. It is here that Macha and Gabriel Angelos next encountered each other on the Ravenous Spirit above the Lorn System's star. It is here that the humans and the Eldar joined forces once again to combat the Necron threat. In the ensuing battle, Macha's starship, the Eternal Star, was destroyed. Macha received the blade known as the Wrath of Vaul from Angelos, who himself had recieved it from a Harlequin Troupe after facing off against the Sorcerer Ahriman of the Thousand Sons, who wanted the blade for himself. It then appeared that Macha transmutated her body into a pulse of green, psychic Warp fire using the blade, that lanced out from the front of the Strike Cruiser. A similar devastating attack was launched by the Litany of Fury in the form of its Exterminatus Array, and both striked the Necron Scythe-class Cruiser leading the Necron forces. The Necron Cruiser detonated, opening a void in the Warp through which all the remaining Necron forces were pulled. It is unknown if Farseer Macha survived her final transformation, for she was neither seen nor heard of afterwards by the remaining Blood Ravens.

Last I knew the C.S. gotto dawn of war trilogy was non-cannon, mostly from contradictions between the game and the book's storyline. As far as I am aware of Gabriel hasn't actually fought the necrons personally yet. Unless there was an item description or loading screen tidbit I missed, that said otherwise.

sucks that all of that is non canon and some events only happened in a different fashion. According to the devs at the time AND BL, they even took out the DOW books out of their catalogue due to their conflicting story. So all of this is now irrelevant.

They are kind of like when a person is inventing their own character but gets so invested in them they have to make them ridiculously better than everyone else, even if it makes no sense.

There will probably be books released with DoW III which state the Blood Ravens were both the 2nd and 11th legions of the original founding. I'm not sure how they can get much more silly otherwise.
